Occasionally you'll come across an absolute gem of a PC game that knows exactly how to use that age-old symbiotic relationship between mouse and keyboard to impeccable effect. Enter Door Kickers, a top-down puzzler that puts you in the shoes of various SWAT members and combat specialists, raiding all sorts of terrorist-filled strongholds as you attempt to clear a route in the fastest and most efficient way possible. Think Hotline Miami if you had to plan each part of your attack, add every possible police-approved gadget or tactic you can think of and you're almost there. You need to make sure you've always got the positional advantage otherwise you'll get gunned down instead, but the best part is repeatedly pausing the action and planning out ahead of time any number of steps, then watching everything unfold in a blur of headshots, flashbangs, sniper-fire and explosives. There's nothing better than that moment where a ton of trial n' error planning comes together, and with a smattering of modes including a permadeath campaign, hostage rescues, bomb defusal and standard 'kill everyone' setups, Door Kickers truly outdoes itself.
