21 Best Hidden Gaming Gems Of The Decade (So Far)

1. Rise Of The Tomb Raider

Like Mad Max and Metal Gear, Crystal Dynamics decided to release Rise of the Tomb Raider on the same day as Fallout 4, which would be like Guns n' Roses announcing a comeback... on the launch day of the new Star Wars (which might still happen). There just wasn't room for both, and naturally people have gravitated towards Bethesda's post-apocalyptic masterpiece, and that's a shame (to a certain degree), because Lara's latest adventure is sensational. A globe-spanning expedition with a nice personal twist, Rise is a high-octane action epic that doesn't sit still for a moment - seriously, the intro has you fighting for your life on an icy cliff within seconds. You'll get the occasional puzzle-solving moment and explorative section, but ultimately this is about building the legend of the Tomb Raider by honing a series of specific weapons, taking part in some brutally satisfying combat, and beating Uncharted at their own game by combining stealth, gunplay and platforming into one hell of an addictive gaming loop. Rise of the Tomb Raider is poised to steal 2015's Game of the Year from right under the most obvious competition, and it's about time you found out why. What hidden gem from the last five years do you wish more people would experience? Let us know in the comments!
