21 Gaming Memories Only 90s Kids Will Have

6. The Chao Garden In Sonic Adventure

Sonic Adventure wasn't an amazing game by any means, and the difficulties SEGA faced when bringing their mascot to the world of 3D is well documented and even continues to this day, but it certainly wasn't without its redeeming qualities. Namely, the Chao Garden.

The chao garden was basically the most robust tamagotchi ever conceived. Between levels, you could awkwardly steer Sonic towards this lush paradise and use animals you had rescued in levels to improve the attributes of your cuddly little Chao buddies. And why would you want to do this?

Chao Racing.

That€™s right, this beautiful garden had a dirty underbelly where people would race their beloved Chao and bet on the results. Go, you cute little monkey, Daddy needs a new pair of shoes!

5. Riding The Mosquito In The Original Rayman

The original Rayman on the PlayStation stood tall with the finest Mario adventures thanks to its gorgeous graphics and challenging gameplay. It was wholly unique and slotted into the PlayStation's otherwise fairly dark repertoire of titles like a ray of sunshine of a cloudy day.

For many people, Rayman was not the star of the show, however. Early on in the game, the player fights a mosquito with silly little feet and a big nose. When the fight is over, Rayman consoles the defeated insect and they become fast friends, which warmed the hearts of even the sternest gamer. The next stage was a shooter-style tour-de-force on mosquito-back which was thrilling, unexpected and incredibly fun.
