While other games on this illicit that inbuilt 'I gotta do that again!' repetition of some particular gameplay mechanic, Bioshock provides one of the most detailed and fun-to-explore environments ever conceived. Although previous 'Shock title System Shock 2 instigated the now in vogue trend of relaying story elements through collectable audio diaries, it was journeying through the underwater utopia-gone-sour world of Rapture that really brought it to the mainstream and made it an extremely integral part of the overall environment itself. The combat in the Bioshock titles has never been as refined as mastermind Ken Levine would hope, with the best moments of the game instead coming from simply exploring the world and drinking in the fantastically dank and macabre art design that accompanies every nook and cranny. Replay it specifically for: That endgame plot twist, which if you've managed to survive on Earth this long and not know you should probably fake an illness or something and marathon through it before someone else ruins it. For everyone else, just play and remember the first time you found out...it's still unmatched.
