22 Biggest Disappointments Of E3 2016
19. The New Prey Has Nothing To Do With The Original
Yes, the new Prey game looks fascinating and beautiful, but it also seems a million miles away from both the unique Cherokee characters and quirky tone of the original, not to mention the direct sequel that was eventually cancelled in favour of this distinct reboot.
So different is this take on the same IP that most probably didn't realise what it was until the title appeared at the end. As such, one has to ask why they even bothered using the name of a fairly obscure 2006 shooter: it's not like the original has a ton of brand identity attached to it.
Perhaps Bethesda's thinking simply came down to "Prey is a cool word for a game, and the original's fanbase is small enough that we can get away with just recycling the name for a new FPS."
