12. FIFA 17 Gets A Story Mode

You probably didn't expect any genuine surprises from EA's sporting announcements, but a totally left-field reveal was that FIFA 17 will feature an NBA 2K16-esque story mode called The Journey.

The player will take control of young prospect Alex Hunter as he rises up the ranks of the Premier League and encounters plenty of drama both on and off the pitch.

Though it remains to be seen whether EA will actually pull off a convincing and dramatically potent story, it's simply impressive that they're changing up the usual formula so drastically and perhaps attempting to pull in less traditional sports game fans. How intriguing.
