23 Biggest WTF Moments From E3 2016
6. All The Embarrassing "Social" Gameplay Demos
It's a long-held tradition of E3 (albeit one most want developers to break) that gameplay demonstrations focusing around multiplayer titles often feature actors posing as actual gamers, working from a cringe-worthy script of canned, over-the-top reactions to what's going on in order to make the game seem more fun than it actually is.
This was especially true in the Sea of Thieves gameplay at Microsoft's conference. The gameplay looked pretty decent, but was rendered instantly annoying by the players shouting and over-reacting at every vaguely cool thing that was happening.
Nobody talks or plays games like this in real life (except perhaps streamers desperate to be "wacky" in order to get YouTube hits from 12-year-olds), and to any adult, it's just totally transparent.
One day developers will realise how utterly patronising most gamers find this sort of nonsense, but apparently it is not this day.
