25 Best Sega Games Of All Time - RANKED

3. Yakuza 0

The Yakuza series is a weird one. It's a quintessentially Japanese-style game, made for the Japanese audience, but it's also had a huge degree of success in the west too.

That said, it's not really the most accessible of series. The last mainline game, Yakuza 6, came out after a long development cycle, and the first game, released in 2005 for the PS2. Unless you've followed on from the start, it makes the whole thing really hard to follow if you were to pick up and play one.

That is, of course, until Yakuza 0 came along. Acting as a prequel to the main series, it introduces players to the series' main character of Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima, finally giving those who've been intrigued by the series an 'in' to enjoy it in full.

And enjoy it you will! Yakuza 0 is great fun from start to finish. Like other titles in the series, it's a bit silly and goofy with a heart of gold, and is filled with ridiculous antics for your characters to get up to. These range from managing a cabaret club and raking in the money (so incredibly addictive), to customising and racing tiny model cars on a track.

Outside of that, you'll regularly get yourself into scrapes and beat the snot out of goons using ridiculous, over-the-top martial arts moves. It's amazing.

Once you're done with this, you can move on to Yakuza Kiwami, which is a remake of the first title in the series. I can almost guarantee you'll want to continue after you get a taste of 0.
