4. Master Chief (Halo)

The Master Chief, also called John-117, is the stoic, no-nonsense dutiful soldier you want to have on your side when a dogmatic alien armada comes knocking on our door. He is the last of a specialized breed of super soldier, and along with his A.I. sidekick Cortana, has saved humanity and the galaxy multiple times from both the Covenant and the Flood, and never complained about it once.

For the most part the Master Chief is an enigmatic figure; very rarely willing to let his guard down and show even the slightest bit of emotion. But every once in a while you do get a brief window in his state of mind, especially when it concerns Cortana, who he probably cares about more than anyone else.

He's not the smartest or wittiest guy around, but his sheer force of will and uncanny ability to escape any situation make him an indispensible tool against those who wish to harm the human race.
