25 Most Criminally Underrated PS2 Games Of All Time

12. Gungrave

After Devil May Cry and God of War proved our brains can control and process action at lightspeed, a ton of similar-minded 'balls-out ridiculous' games followed suit. One such was Gungrave, a behind-the-back shooter that took Max Payne's dual-pistol setup and set fire to it.

Suddenly you were spinning and slow-mo diving through hordes of undead and demonic warriors, slaying them in the most stylish way possible. The entire game was caked in this superb anime aesthetic that really gave everything the perfect amount of character.

Gungrave would see a more watered down sequel in 2004, but this original - just as a statement of intent - was big, dumb, demonic fun.
