Speaking of fighting games, one of the best in Mortal Kombat's arsenal actually came in the form of their own spin-off. Shaolin Monks was a God of War-style action-adventure that retained ALL of the gore-happy appeal of its main franchise.

Liu Kang and Kung Lao were the chop-socky, high-kicking duo you've always wanted to see in their own buddy cop-esque spin-off. Local couch co-op multiplayer was spectacular, enemies could be tossed into a myriad of environmental hazards and levels took you from Earthrealm to NetherRealm and back again - replete with scores of cameos from the main cast.
