Who knew that living a simulated life on your PC - building a house, filling it with furniture, getting a job, hosting dinner parties, having kids - could be so addictive? The Sims made a huge, unexpected impact on the gaming world (it has sold over 11.3 million copies to date) when it arrived on computer at the dawn of the new millennium. And what should have been plainly dull ended up as totally and utterly compulsive. It seems as though everyone - at one time - became briefly addicted to The Sims; not surprising, given that the game was built with such an obvious level of skill and passion. To have missed this period of gaming history is to have denied yourself one of its greatest offerings - the definitive life simulator, The Sims plainly rocked.
