Resident Evil 4 is notable for the way in which it took an old and dated franchise - the stilted presentation of previous games in the series had begun to feel a bit archaic - and revolutionised it completely. Thus Resident Evil 4, whilst still clinging to the roots of its predecessors, marked the series' ascension to great new heights. Goofy dialogue cues aside, Resident Evil 4 provided fans with a near flawless experience in horror gaming. Thrilling from the very first minute to the very last, and endlessly innovative for the way in which it effortlessly blended puzzles and action sequences, Resident Evil 4 marks Capcom's finest achievement to date. To have missed this title is to have missed what is arguably the best video game in the last 10 years.
