5. Xbox One Gets Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility This Holiday
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wz_swZB9s8c Microsoft brought down the house during their conference by announcing that the Xbox One is now backward compatible, with over 100 titles being available for gamers to play from this holiday period. Games you bought digitally on the Xbox 360 will begin showing up on your console on their own, whereas for physical games, if you insert your Xbox 360 disc, you'll be able to download a digital version of the game onto your console. What's more, you can even play online with your friends still on Xbox 360. The biggie? There's no charge. This was a major win for Microsoft given that Sony's only form of backwards compatibility is the paid PlayStation Now service, and given how it will certainly diminish the need for money-spinning HD remakes, it feels like a very consumer-friendly move. Plus, many new games will come with free versions of previous entries into the series: Rainbow Six: Siege, for instance, will offer both Rainbow Six: Vegas games. Giving away older games as an incentive to pick up new ones is a near-genius move and fantastic PR for Microsoft moving forward.
