3. Traveling Through Dimensions
Traveling through dimensions had a more focal point during Bioshock Infinite, having Elizabeth at your side able to open tears all over the place allowing you to gain items or entry into another area. It was this dimension travel that, to me, gave Infinite a leg up on its two predecessors. I'm not here to argue which Bioshock is the best Bioshock but I think I am making it pretty clear which one I prefer. The events of Donnie Darko mainly take place in a tangent universe, kind of in the sidecar of the primary universe. If I could just get inside Richard Kelly's brain for just a few minutes to try and understand how he thought this story out and what his process was, that would be excellent. Even though Darko took place, technically across two universes/realities, I'm still grouping it into an aspect it shares with Infinite. Regardless of the amount of universes explored. There's always a lighthouse and in the world of Donnie Darko, there is always a plane engine.
