1. Nintendo Has Finally Bowed And Cut The Price
The Wii gave punters two reasons to buy, and neither of them were related to an incredibly thin catalogue. One of these was its ability to appeal to a crowd beyond gamers; well documented, and not worth dwelling on. The Wii U has similar potential, but the marketing behind it must be good; rarely Nintendo's strong point. What helps is the second reason; The Wii was cheap for a home console, and this gave it the edge against other, more 'credible' systems. Now it's become apparent to Nintendo that there's a problem, things ought to be set in motion - if there's an audience, there'll be games. However, even speaking as a Nintendo fanboy who has already bought a Wii U, I don't see reason to buy one...yet. The free online gaming it offers is fantastic, and sets it out from the competition already. Of course, there are few games worth playing online - ZombiU's fantastic online experience excepted - but the company have now had several years to integrate the interweb into the console. If it manages to do this, and release some quality games along the way, who knows? Maybe it'll entice some third-parties back - and improve the Wii U in the process.
