3. Chaos Legion
Most people haven't even heard of this game much less know it was based on the novel of the same name by Japanese author Tow Ubukata. Chaos Legion was a unique hack n' slash game published by Capcom that put players in control of Sieg Warheit. Sieg is tasked with tracking down and stopping his former friend, Victor, before he destroys the world by releasing an evil spirit of great power. Sieg may or may not have been responsible for the death of Victor's lover and Sieg's friend Siela some years prior to the start of the game. It's a bit heavy from what I can remember. Sieg wields the Chaos Legion: a group of controllable spirit soldiers that fight alongside him directly or simply assists him. When Sieg summons a legion, he's slower and his attacks are weaker, but the legion can defend him and take care of threats for him. When a legion is not active, Sieg is more effective in combat and can briefly summon a legion for a quick assist action. While having a unique combat system, Chaos Legion suffered from some dull environments and an overall lack of polish. Chaos Legion may be lurking at your local used games store if they still have a PS2 section and, if you're able to find it, odds are it's extremely cheap. I was able to find what I think to be one of the novels on Amazon, but it's priced at over $173. At that price you may as well just fly to Japan to pick up a copy personally (assuming you can read Japanese).
