2. Call Of Duty: World At War (PS3, 360)
Before you ask or get upset, here's three good reasons why a Call Of Duty game made the top ten list: 1. Split-screen. Sure, practically every COD game, or FPS for that matter, has some form of split-screen. Now, what makes this game's so special? Well, remember how I said that fun was all in the player's experience? Well, after continuously playing through every map for the better part of a year, I thought that I was the master at this game. Seriously, I knew the maps so well that I might have been able to draw one to scale. Apparently, so did my friends. I spent the better part of a month constantly trying to beat my friend in one vs. one split-screen. Honestly, they was some of the best times I've ever had holding a controller. I never did end up winning, though... 2. Tanks. Now, I've already talked about how great vehicles are in Battlefield 3, but I haven't said anything about them in COD. Well, that's because there really aren't any. Call of Duty 3 had jeeps and World at War had tanks, but after that, everything stopped. I guess the developers thought that we didn't want them anymore. They were wrong. Launching virtual shells at my enemies had never been as satisfying before, and it's a reason why I go back to this title constantly. 3. Zombies. This game by far had the best zombies mode of any COD. Maybe it was just the small maps or the simplicity of the survival mode, but something about this game was just so much better than the rest. Getting a ray-gun from the mystery box has never been quite as satisfying as it was in World at War. Combine zombie mode with some split-screen action and you get double the fun. Maybe it's because I'm crazy, or because I've logged ridiculous amounts of time on this game, but it is the only COD game that I keep going back to and never stop having fun with.
Best Part: Dogs. This was the first game where players could call in dogs and, man, was it fun.
1. Grand Theft Auto (Vice City, San Andreas, III, & IV) (PS2, PS3, Xbox, 360)
Congratulations! You have reached number one! After reading through my rants, off-topic discussions, terrible jokes, and life-experiences, I hope that you are satisfied. That's right folks, the most fun games of the current and past generations of consoles are the Grand Theft Auto titles. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Rockstar knows how to make a game. From Bully to Red Dead Redemption, and now GTA, Rockstar has never really failed us. Although some of the GTA games don't hold up to modern day, they were great in their time and, for the most part, have defined the open-world video game. There have been so many games using GTA's template (Saint's Row, Just Cause 2 etc) but none have done it quite like Rockstar. Although the games can seem dark at times (the mass murdering of innocents usually is), the core of the gameplay is based on having fun. Everything that is placed in a world in a GTA game is put there for one reason: entertainment and fun. I suppose that's two reasons, but they go hand-in-hand. Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas were all pioneers of the third person 3D game. Without them, we may not be where we are today, and we certainly wouldn't have games like GTA IV and the newly-released GTA V. To be specific, the most fun is had during free-play. Sure, the missions are great and hilarious, but they can never trump stealing a car and going on a rampage. Of course, using an APC might have just been a little bit better, but the Grand Theft Auto experience is whatever the player makes it to be. Want to take a nice leisurely drive down to the park? Or put on your parachute and jump out of a helicopter? The choice is yours. B
est Part: An open world for you to do as you please. Thanks for sticking around and finishing the article. Honestly, I'm surprised you made it this far. People usually go mad after listening to (or in your case reading) my words for this long. Hope you enjoyed it and leave a message below if there is anything you feel was missed or just plain wrong.
