It has become readily apparent that the gaming industry is changing to accommodate new, burgeoning markets. Consequently, a number of trends have emerged that emphasize the use of both new and familiar technology and, in addition, consumer tastes and interests. The following five trends highlight what I think are the industry's future. Of course, if implemented correctly.
5. Zombies
Are zombies taking the world by storm? Yes. Yes they are. It has been quite evident that the entertainment industry has zombie fever - or whatever it was that made them run amuck in Romero's 'Dawn of the Dead'. With film after film; game after game; blockbuster after blockbuster, zombies have proven to be a perennial franchise in the eyes of consumers. It is safe to say that this will continue especially with upcoming titles such as Naughty Dog's 'The Last of Us' and Ubisoft's 'Zombie U'. Zombies have seeped into every facet of entertainment with an unrelenting tenacity. The fact of the matter is that this will continue as long as consumers keep eating them up (no pun intended).
