1. The New PS4 Uses Mechanical Buttons Instead Of Sensors
Much like the newly matted hard drive cover, this design tweak will come down to personal taste. The CUH-1200 does away with the touch-sensitive, digital Power and Eject buttons of the launch unit, replacing them with good old-fashioned mechanical buttons that actually click when you press them. The only PlayStation console to have used digital buttons was the original PlayStation 3. The fact that these were quickly replaced by more traditional push buttons on the PS3 Slim and Super Slim was in response to complaints that touch sensors just didn't feel tactile enough. When performing major mechanical processes like powering on consoles or removing discs, it feels natural to get a satisfying bit of haptic feedback, and somehow reassuring that there's a button you can press that can just reset everything. With that said, this one's definitely a matter of personal taste, and some may miss the supposed sleekness of not having things that go 'click' on the console. What do you think of the tweaks made to the PS4? Will you be keeping an eye out for the CUH-1200 rather than buying a launch unit, or are you not bowled over by the changes?
