5 Features GTA V Multiplayer Must Have
3. A Fully Alive, Interactive City
The maps of Rockstar games on this gen are regarded as some of the best out there: they teem with life and feel like real places. Sadly though, GTA 4's city died during online play. There was little civilian activity and other than just walking around, they didn't do much at all - no people setting in restaurants or bars, or talking on phones. Red Dead Redemption mostly fixed this, so hopefully V is on track. The immersion needs to carry over into multiplayer as well: if a player chooses to walk into a bar, there should be enough life to make the place feel alive. Nightclubs should have people dancing and drinking, not just an empty, silent space. On top of that, players should be able to use the environment, for instance there should be a button for sitting on benches and taking drinks. This obviously has a simple function of making movies simpler to make, but could also serve a gameplay purpose: if I'm trying to sneak into a rival crew's turf, sitting down makes my player name and the coloured dot disappear, meaning I can slip in undetected and take them by surprise. A feature like this would make protecting your turf more interesting and more intense, as if would become more difficult to work out who to trust.
