5 Great Spider-Man Video Games (And 5 That Sucked)

2. Great: Spider-Man: The Video Game (Arcade)

Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions
SEGA

Unlike Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade's Revenge, this arcade game was a fantastic co-op that was worth every quarter.

To play alone as Spider-Man would have been satisfactory enough, but the inclusion of up to four players made this game a blast. Black Cat, Namor, and Hawkeye joined the fray to take down villains like Kingpin, Scorpion, and Doctor Doom.

The beauty of this game is in its simplicity. The graphics, game play, co-op mode, and story are all what you would expect from an arcade side-scroller, no more, no less. It wasn't designed to revolutionize the industry nor was it thrown together hastily to milk coins out of the pockets of children.

It was Spider-Man and his amazing friends beating up bad guys, plain and simple.

Adding to the fun were great visuals, lengthy playing time, and a zoom effect that changed your POV to show the full environment during platform levels. Although Captain American and the X-Men each have their own arcade cabinets, this Spider-Man game quite possibly outperforms them both.
