5 Great Spider-Man Video Games (And 5 That Sucked)
1. Sucked: Spider-Man & Venom: Maximum Carnage
If you judge a book by it's cover, you would assume this is one of the best Spider-Man games on any platform. A cavalcade of heroes like Captain America and Black Cat joined Spider-Man to take on Carnage, Demogoblin, Shriek, and more.
Keep in mind, the year is 1994. The Maximum Carnage comic saga was spawned just one year prior and the Spider-Man: The Animated Series cartoon had just popped up on Fox Kids. This game couldn't have been released at a better time and couldn't have been more disappointing.
Unfortunately, using a limited move set on copy-and-paste thugs gets tiresome even with the presence of cool villains.
As stated before in this list, there's only so much you can expect from a side-scroller on SNES and Sega Genesis. However, games like X-Men 2: The Clone Wars have shown that there's still plenty of potential to be unlocked if a game developer tries hard enough.
Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage just wasn't up to snuff for what players expected, offering another middle of the road game for Spider-Man to stumble through.
