4. Motion Control As Standard
Nintendo took motion control as its USP for the Wii, and has continued to use it on their new WiiU console. Sony added some motion control into their SIXAXIS and Dualshock 3 controllers, but it was a mere novelty. It was Xbox's Kinect that really took off and brought reliable motion and voice control to hardcore console gaming. Sony released their Move controllers not long after but haven't taken off in the same way. Sony designed the Dualshock 4 controller in tandem with a peripheral camera, which can track movement, allowing the controller to be used as a pointer for the on screen cursor. Whilst no titles were announced, it seems that Sony are investing more into the Move technology it brought out on the PS3, so maybe motion control gaming will be less of a novelty and more of a compelling experience.
