One of the biggest features of the series as a whole is battling between players to see whose Pokémon are the best. In the original games you took on gym leaders and the Elite Four, but Pokémon GO allows you to not only face your friends but anyone around the world.
Player vs. player battles have been slowly rolled out since launch and while at first it was a bit of a mess, you can now face off against each other at any time in any place.
The recently introduced GO Battle League has proved a huge success, allowing players to work up the rankings to earn greater rewards. It provides an incentive to get the best rated Pokémon, train them up and get the perfect movesets.
Battles within the game will continue to evolve over time, but even now they are hugely addictive and adds to the longevity of Pokémon GO.
