3. 41 Way to Die, and Growing
Saints Row 3 was the game in which the property decided they were done pretending to be GTA and that they were going to be something totally different. It was a moment of clarity in which they saw an opportunity to up the ante so much that they wouldn't even be playing in the same game as GTA. How did they do that? Observe.Catharsis. Say it with me. Catharsis. Hell, even the word is cathartic. Saying it brings such a sense of pleasure boiling up from within my videogame glands. You have those too, right? Regardless, catharsis is pretty much the name of the game in videgogame entertainment. The more I get out of my system, the more satisfied I walk away. What's more entertaining? Shooting a paintball gun at a police officer or blowing up an army of laser cops with a gun that shoots exploding squids?
What can you expect in terms of weaponry and pure cathartic power fantasy from GTA? Well, probably your standard assortment of pistols, SMGs, rifles, and whatnot. There's nothing wrong with that. But, what can you expect from Saints Row? God only knows.
