5 Reasons Why The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask Is The Best Legend Of Zelda Ever

1. The Sense Of Accomplishment

Through the course of Majora’s Mask, the three-day timer lets the player witness the day-to-day goings-on of the game’s characters. If the player chooses to do nothing and not interact with anyone, the cycle remains unchanged and the characters go through their days unaffected by the player.

If the player chooses to act upon these characters, help them out, or even talk to them on occasion, the cycle gets broken and new outcomes occur. Because of this Groundhog Day recurring of events, the player learns a lot about the characters and their personalities. In other ‘Zelda’ games, talking to side characters to receive information is crucial in progressing.

However, in Majora’s Mask, the intimate nature caused by the three-day repeating cycle makes it crucial that the player understands and entertains the side characters’ personalities, habits, and even interests to progress through the game. The player becomes invested in these characters, maybe even develops sentimental feelings for some.

Link’s battle against evil becomes even more important to the player because now it’s more personal than it ever has been. When evil is conquered in Majora’s Mask, the sense of accomplishment feels greater because not only did Link save innocent people, but Link saved his friends as well.
