5 Signs You're Too Old For Gaming

3. You Worry That Games Are Getting Too Serious

super_mario_bros__world_by_lwiis64-d32ybh0 When compared to other modern media forms, video games are not widely touted as being particularly serious. When compared as an art form to films or literature video games are too often dismissed as being "childish" or "just for fun". This notion is of course ridiculous; some modern video games have boasted some of the most inventive and impressive narratives in recent years and the interactive medium makes them all the more impressive - the opportunity to take part in stories such as that of L.A. Noire or Alan Wake only enriches the experience. As films these plots would be touted for excellence, but sadly something about the stigma still surrounding games and gamers detracts from this. Now all of the gamers reading his will undoubtedly be scoffing at the suggestion that video games are lowlier forms of art than TV series' or films, but sadly this is a notion that still penetrates into the overall public perception. It's not just non-gamers who are affected by this, though, and gamers who are in the autumn of their playing careers also suffer a similar desire to simplify their experience. Gamers who are getting a little too old for the game will start to overlook the convoluted and complex modern games in favour of carefree experiences. Games that recall the simplicity and basic fun of older genres start to become far more attractive; their style lends itself to short, uncomplicated playing sessions - ideal for the older and busier gamers among us. When you find yourself regularly picking up an iPhone platformer instead of embarking on an exploration in Skyrim then you know you might be getting too old for gaming. .
