5 Video Games That Did DLC Right (And 5 That Ripped You Off)

6. Right - Fallout: New Vegas

Red dead redemption
Obsidian

The add-ons for Fallout: New Vegas were long, detailed, and while not necessary to get the full experience of an already phenomenal game, but it that much better as well as presented and entire new perspective on your character, the Courier's exploits in the Mojave Wasteland in the process.

Each respective DLC pack is phenomenal its own right, fitting the theme of either the desert setting or the Vegas aspect itself, from robbing a casino in Dead Money, to getting in the middle of a turf war in Utah's Zion National Park. And while each add-on is great it its own right, they are all connected, as you find out upon reaching the final instalment, Lonesome Road.

Fallout: New Vegas certainly has no shortage of moral ambiguity in the decisions it presents you with, but Lonesome Road takes it to a whole knew level, showing you first hand exactly what the effects of your actions are outside of the Mojave.

In addition, the new explorable area is an absolute marvel of the post-apocalyptic world, and feels just as treacherous as it's made out to be. At the epicentre of it all is the antagonist and puppet master, Ulysses, a man with a personal vendetta against the Courier.

Vanilla New Vegas is, in all honestly, anything but, and provides tens of hours of content just on its own. The DLC however, serves to create an even more massive, seamless story for those who dare to seek it.
