5 Video Games That Did DLC Right (And 5 That Ripped You Off)

7. Right - Red Dead Redemption

Rockstar

Five months after the release of Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar released an expansion entitled Undead Nightmare. This took our early 20th century, wild west protagonist, John Marston, and thrust him into the middle of an all out zombie infestation.

By this point, zombies, especially in video games, had been done to death recently, but Undead Nightmare was truly something special. The familiar Red Dead Redemption gameplay and humour, mixed with an interesting story and all the characters we already know and love, alongside a horde of the undead thrown into the mix was a recipe for success.

This DLC, just on it's own, can be considered one of the best zombie games ever made. It's been called a model for add-on content, adding hours upon hours of gameplay to Red Dead Redemption all for $10.

Rockstar apparently realized this, and gave Undead Nightmare it's own standalone release one month later, which also included full Red Dead multi-player, and every single DLC that had already been released for said multiplayer.

It certainly doesn't fit in with the down to Earth style of the base game, but as a DLC it's one of the best, both in terms of the price and the amount of content.
