5 Video Games That Shamelessly Ripped Off Zelda

5. Ittle Dew

Ittle Dew Zelda Parody Developed by Ludosity, Ittle Dew is a puzzle adventure game which brings a heavy dollop of Zelda inspiration to its core gameplay. Released this year for the PC, and aiming for a winter release on the Wii U as well as tablets, Ittle Dew disguises itself as a parody to the popular fantasy franchise. Playing as the main protagonist Ittle Dew €“ blonde-haired and washed-up on an island in adventurer's attire €“ you begin the game in search of sparkling treasure, with your trusty sidekick the flying magical fox, Tippsie, in tow. If you've spotted the green fields, the tutorial cave and the sign for the castle, you're heading in the right direction. In fact, you're probably walking straight over into A Link to the Past. But don't let the similarities deter you because there's a tongue-and-cheek vibe to this title that really sets it apart from the Zelda series. Over the course of the game, you'll come across a number of puzzles requiring you to move blocks, light torches, and defeat enemies to open doors and passages. But unlike the Zelda franchise, Ittle Dew opts to focus on three main items €“ the fire sword, ice sword and portal wand. You can use each item in different ways to solve puzzles, plus you can even combine them to create assorted effects. Ittle Dew is so irresistibly cute that when it oozes the Zelda nostalgia and playful atmosphere, it becomes a great game on its own merits. Yes, it's a Zelda parody rip-off, and it shamelessly takes its setting directly from A Link to the Past, but it does it in such a spectacular fashion that you can't help but forgive €“ especially when there's so much treasure and no "Hey, listen" prompts in sight.
