5 Ways DOOM Is The Perfect First-Person Shooter
1. Guns Feel Incredibly Destructive
No FPS should suffer from tame, powerless weapons that don't feel weighty or satisfying to shoot. Guns must be responsive, and fun to experiment with, otherwise gamers will just stick to a handful of the ones they like and inevitably grow bored. DOOM encourages players to play around with what's on offer, a mix of more traditional weapons and some promised futuristic choices.
DOOM offers an arsenal of visually stunning and creatively murderous weapons. No iteration of this classic franchise would be complete without the flesh-tearing Chainsaw or legendary BFG – Big F**king Gun – which releases a green electrified orb of doom to take down any demon in your path. The range of weaponry on offer is as varied and destructive as the gameplay itself, from the brand new Gauss Cannon to the dangerously simple Combat Shotgun. Players can rampage through the game causing death and destruction at every turn.
Bullets tear through demons like the classic hot knife through butter, and it feels highly addictive to see what further upgrades can bring.
Again, this all adds together into a lethal package. DOOM wants you to push forward quickly, kill in abundance and use all of the different guns to vanquish the hellish hordes.
DOOM is - plain and simply - a terrific shooter. It does guns very well, they feel responsive and violent, just as they should.
