5 Ways Nintendo Can Make The Wii U A Success In 2013

2. Free the Miiverse

One of Nintendo€™s aces in hole for this generation is the Miiverse, their plan to challenge online gaming communities and an effort to get people to stick with their Wii U, rather than allowing it to become a home€™s second console. Then why are there limits to the service? For a start, you€™ve got a 100 friend limit. There€™s also a no tolerance approach to misconduct in the community, which basically means no swearing or name-calling etc. It€™s also much too narrow-minded; basically everyone can post about games, but that seems to be about it. There€™s no general forum, or even statuses for that matter. People are limited really to talking about games or software. The service needs to be branched out, making it more accessible for people to share their thoughts on anything, possibly being allowed to upload pictures with a mobile app or something along those lines. In short, Nintendo can€™t restrict the Miiverse to being just about games; it needs to be about the users, everything about them. This is one of the console€™s most interesting and unique features and, if Nintendo do it right, people will keep an interest in the service and of course the Wii U itself. Also, abolishing those pesky friend codes would be a god-send in order for interaction within the Miiverse to become simpler.
