5 Ways Saints Row IV Won Me Over (And How Comparing It To GTA V Is Redundant)

2: The Characterisation

Saints Row IV f

So Saints Row is easily just a pot of vapid yet likeable characters and that's fine but it can get old fast. Saints Row The Third wasn't really swimming with interesting characters and it ultimately led to a emotional disconnect in that I just didn't really care. I was only playing it because the gameplay was fun. Saints Row IV does some brilliant characterisation that I really thought wouldn't be possible. Your character is still a rather uninteresting extension of yourself (define by your actions rather than his/her character) but that's okay because the characters surrounding you are pretty darn cool. Keith David (as Keith David) is a hilarious addition as your Vice President, but the real standout is the alien emperor Zinyak. Zinyak steals every scene he is in and it's clear the writing and animation staff had a lot of fun with the main antagonist. Whether he's quoting Shakespeare, or singing along to 'You Got What I Need' he's a riot.
