6. Grand Theft Auto V
Platforms: PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360
Release Date: 17 September, 2013 GTA IV launched in 2008 to much critical acclaim and commercial success. Yet I always thought it lacked something that other GTA games had. I could never really explain it but I could always feel it when playing. GTA V didnt have that feeling and felt much more like a Grand Theft Auto game. But it was also a truly outstanding game featuring a huge open world filled with interesting characters and eventual locations. The new gameplay mechanic of being able to switch characters led to less lulls in action during missions and more freedom to choose how to approach action sequences. It is arguably the best of the series and that alone justifies its place on this list.
