50 Greatest Games Of This Generation

40. Burnout Paradise

BurnoutPlatforms: PlayStation 3 Release Date: 12 June, 2008 Burnout: Takedown brought the series into the mainstream with its own brand of vehicular mayhem. Paradise evolved the concept further introducing a totally open world, new race modes and most importantly Showtime. Rather than the Crash Mode from previous games, Showtime allowed players to crash at any time anywhere in Paradise City to create the maximum amount of damage. The new features were enough to make the game a marked improvement over Takedown and the drop-in multiplayer suited the gameplay perfectly. Paradise was unarguably the best arcade racer of the generation.

39. Fallout New Vegas

40 Fallout New VegasPlatforms: PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360 Release Date: 22 October, 2010 Obsidian Entertainment took the reins for this entry in the Fallout series. Although it used the same engine as Fallout 3 and had some of the same features it felt like a very different game to its direct predecessor. This probably had something to do with the fact that many of the employees at Obisidian had worked on the first two Fallout games and brought back many features associated with those games. It€™s not only the gameplay improvements over Fallout 3 that make New Vegas a better game. The compelling setting and plot, huge range of memorable characters and the variety in side quests make New Vegas one of the biggest and best RPG€™s you€™ll ever play.

38. Fez

39 FezPlatforms: Xbox 360 Release Date: 13 April, 2012 Fez had made this list not by being a great platformer or for having particularly good puzzles. In fact the platforming elements are sometimes underwhelming and the puzzles can be abstract and frustrating. It isn€™t even the innovative way in which the player can transform the world by turning it around you. This game is truly the sum of its parts, whether it is the lush graphics, charming models or the soothing music that resonates exactly with the environment you find yourself in. Fez is a game that doesn€™t really have an equivalent and if you sit down with it you can really have a great experience.
