6 Anticipated Video Games That Are Still Missing In Action

4) The Last Guardian

Although they€™ve only got two released games under their belt, Team Ico are one of the most revered, loved and admired game studios working today for two very good reasons: Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Both games were strikingly different to their contemporaries when released and both stand out as classics of the PS2 generation. Their spiritual successor, The Last Guardian, has been dubbed as something of a melding of the two, blending the key game mechanics of both along with Team Ico€™s unique, signature art style. Taking place in another ancient city, it tells the simple story of one boy and his cat/dog/eagle/thing. It€™s €“ and this is not a term to be used lightly €“ pretty breathtaking to behold, but nothing has been seen or heard of the project since an improved version of a leaked trailer at TGS 2010, and what was shown then was much the same as the year prior. Following that, the Godfather and genius behind Team Ico, Fumito Ueda, left Sony in December of 2011, leaving some question as to the future of the project. Although a tragic loss for Sony, Ueda stated he will stay on to complete the project and that the help of Santa Monica Studios has been enlisted. Encouraging as it is to hear get reports about the game€™s development, nothing really establishes promise like a new trailer. Given that it€™s been nearly three years we last saw anything new of The Last Guardian, it€™s about time Team Ico gave us something to remind us the game is still alive and (hopefully) well.

When not writing Chris spends more time thinking about playing videogames than actually playing them and can usually be found reorganizing his Blu Ray and book collections. He owns four different editions of A Song of Ice and Fire and no, it isn't overkill. He's left the neon haze of Tokyo and Seoul for the more sedate streets of Bournemouth.
