6 Key Details As Pro Evolution Soccer Series Becomes EFootball
4. A New Engine Powered By Unreal
While we have known for some time the series was moving to a new engine with Unreal, this is the first chance we have had to see it fully in action.
Over the years, Unreal engines have produced some incredible titles, and now they have huge potential on the newest generation of consoles. However, it appears that eFootball has been created on an older engine that has been used to build the current mobile version of PES.
Konami have confirmed that the quality will be different for each console, so the PS5 game should be significantly improved when compared to the mobile offering. The biggest worry for fans, though, is that they are essentially playing a mobile game on a console.
Regardless of the new free-to-play model or the modes available, gameplay is where the series is at its best. The Unreal engine needs to provide a step up for Konami in eFootball or it will be seen as a backwards step.
