6 Marvel Characters Who Could Have Games Better Than Spider-Man
4. Iron Man
Iron Man is the clear favourite for a few reasons - he started the MCU, he’s possibly the most recognisable hero going, and being based in NYC like Spider-Man, he offers a solid link between the games.
Stan Lee famously wrote Tony Stark to create the least likeable hero so he could then write stories to make the audience like him. His wit and charm make him a perfect protagonist. Like Miles Morales features in Spider-Man, Iron Heart’s Riri Williams could be present here too to add depth to the world.
But then comes the best reason to make an Iron Man game: the suits. Far more so than Spidey, Iron Man’s customisable suits add a new level of potential to the gameplay. Could certain areas be blocked off until you’ve unlocked Tony’s Hulkbuster suit? Or could, Iron Man 3 style, the suits break down under duress and leave you running through the streets waiting for a replacement like D.Va from Overwatch?
And if the thought of finicky flying controls are giving you Superman 64 green ring PTSD flashbacks, just play a few levels of Lego Marvel Heroes as Iron Man. It handles surprisingly well.
