6 Reasons Why You Should Be Excited About Starbound
6. The Premise
Something tells me there's a bug hunt on the schedule today.
So, what's this game all about? The short answer would be that it's about everything, but that's boring and unimaginative, so let's talk about what the game promises to deliver some more. Firstly, there's the space exploration. The player will be able to traverse the vast procedurally generated universe. Of course, this wouldn't mean all that much without the ability to land on celestial bodies and explore them, so you can do that too. Maybe you want to link up with other players and liven up your spaceship. Of course there's a lot of multiplayer involved too, dudes.
"What's there to do on the planets except for the exploring, anyway?" asks the ignorant Joe. Ignorant Joe isn't aware that the players will be able to create their own buildings and constructions, Terraria style. After you've built them, craft your own furniture and outfit the interiors as you please. Hell, build an entire city and invite non-player characters and real players to visit it.
Naturally, you'll get bored of jumping around your house/apartment/cave after a while. Why wouldn't you go offworld and abduct some alien animals to train them as your pets or guards? Or collect various plants to grow them at your home planet? The possibilities are all there, limited only by our imaginations. And everyday responsibilities, but that can be avoided, should the need arise.
