6 Reasons Why You Should Be Excited About Starbound
2. The Developers/The Development
The devs, celebrating the first 1 000 000 dollars earned through preorders - ingame. Brilliant.
Chucklefish has been extremely cooperative with their community right from the beginning. Aside from keeping us posted about the game's development on an almost daily basis, they're also maintaining a Starbound development roadmap, where everybody can see where the game is currently heading.
They have been honest and straightforward, always listening to their backers; a stellar example of a great indie team. Or they're the greatest liars in the world - an option we highly doubt is possible. One of the developers is Tiy, who used to work with Redigit on Terraria. This is probably the reason why Starbound looks a tad bit similar to it. Altough there is no actual release date given, Chucklefish said that Starbound should be finished by the end of 2013, so the beta will surely be here soon.
The game is built in tiers, whereas the final build will have ten (or eleven) of them. So far, the first tier has been completed, and the second tier is supposedly being finished as I write this article. Here's hoping that Chucklefish keeps up the good work!
