6 Ups & 9 Downs From No Man's Sky

8. Resource Management Is Too Time-Consuming

Hello Game

Something that was considerably downplayed in the game's marketing is just how much playtime you will spend messing around in menus with resource allocation and crafting.

One of the big time-wasters early on is having to move materials you've mined from your exosuit's inventory to your ship in order to free up space so you can keep mining. As you start off with so little space in your suit, it's laborious busy-work, especially as the menu design can be quite cumbersome to get used to.

Still, to their credit Hello Games did improve the menus from the pre-patch version, massively increasing the amount of resources you can store per slot. Even once you know the UI like the back of your hand, though, it still feels a little too intrusive to the game's focus on exploration overall.
