Fans had pointed out similarities to Sonic the Hedgehog 3's soundtrack and Michael Jackson's music for years, and if you want to hear it for yourself, listen to the game's end credits tune and Jacko's Stranger in Moscow in quick succession.

Many speculated that the late King of Pop was an uncredited musical contributor on the title, and this was never as outlandish as it might sound. There is, after all, prior history between Jackson and Sega, the publisher of the Moonwalker games for Mega Drive and Master System.

The gaming giant has always downplayed the collaboration, but in a 2016 Huffington Post article, three of the six composers who worked on Sonic 3, and a former Sega executive, acknowledged that Jackson provided music for the game.

Jacko was one of the biggest artists at the time, so why all the secrecy surrounding his involvement with the Mega Drive sequel?

Some have claimed the singer was unhappy with the sound quality and removed his name from the credits, while others believe the child molestation allegations he was battling at the time made Sega think twice about making the partnership public.
