6 Worst Things About Online Gaming
2. The Rage Quitting
I have addressed this anomaly in a previous article. That being said... I now digress.
Annoying though it is to play an entire game and net a hard-earned win, such a feat can be nullified by the actions of your opponent - who, by either virtue of insolence, rage, or merely trying to avoid the retaliatory sh*t talking in the postgame lobby, turns off their system or quits the game, thereby depriving you of the satisfaction of a fully played victory.
Annoying, huh?
In some games, this has largely been addressed over the years - EA, for example, religiously gives quitters a DNF status and a loss after such incidents, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II levels Probation on quitters, preventing them from playing online for a set amount of time.
Serious question: how many times did he/she quit to receive THAT penalty!?
Now, I've already written a part of an article devoted to rage-quitting, so I will not delve into the subject here again. Quitting, at least in FPS play, robs you of the chance for vengeance, gives your opponent a victory anyway, etc., etc.,. But, sadly, quitting a game and (partially?) denying an opponent the satisfaction of taunting a vanquished foe is largely prevalent in lobbies by players too proud, immature, or stuck up to deal with their superior at the end of the game.
That being said, I actually managed to find something more infuriating than the previous five factors.
