7 Best Candidates To Direct A Shadow Of The Colossus Movie
3. Peter Jackson
An obvious choice, really, but a solid one nonetheless. There are three main reasons why Peter Jackson should get involved in a potential Shadow of the Colossus adaptation: Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and Return of the King.
Jacksons contribution to fantasy cinema is equivalent to Tolkiens contribution to fantasy literature. His Lord of the Rings trilogy opened new horizons to cinemas possibilities and forced everyone to take seriously an otherwise snubbed genre. Relentlessly referenced in dozens of other movies, video-games and TV series, it may have inspired many, but remains unprecedented fifteen years after its release.
Many may think though that he lost his touch with his latest Hobbit adaptations and not without reason. By not having something substantially new to offer to the Middle-Earth mythos which he previously flourished, Jackson fell into the trap of remaking his own initial trilogy. Given however a refreshing new project like Shadow of the Colossus, he is likely to regain his immanent capability of capturing the essence of pre-existing material, by aptly tracing its emotional core and smoothly balancing between spectacle and drama.
