3. Throwing A Slow Motion Death Ball To Kill A Boss
A lot of games reserve the coolest parts for cutscenes, taking away any sense of control that you might think you have. Once you get control of your character, you can never really do what you saw in the cutscenes or quick time events. One of the biggest offenders of this is another sci-fi franchise: Mass Effect. Jumping to the Normandy at the end of Mass Effect 2 was such an epic moment, but the game itself doesn't even have a jump button at all, let alone anything remotely close to that type of functionality. Fortunately, in Destiny, the power is in the hands of the player. While fighting that giant purple eye orb boss you see in the image up top at the end of the Devil's Lair strike mission, the battle was getting hectic. The Warlock was taking fire from all sides, peeking out every few seconds to return a few shots and try to slowly chop down the health of the small grunts surrounding. This is happening all while the giant orb is teleporting around and launching huge missiles at us from all angles. Once the special ability fully charges to its super charged state, the boss is nearly dead and the timing couldn't be more perfect. Breaking away from cover and going full speed directly at the boss itself. the jetpack boost send the Warlock flying right over the top of each missile fired. The camera pulls back to a third-person view as the super ability is charged and the Warlock gets right up in the face of the boss. A big death ball of space magic is released directly into the big eye's pupil of death. Boom!
