The previously discussed points depict the world as on the cusp of a breaking point, with the different factions and forces all leading to world destruction.

The heroes and hub locations aren't involved in this, making it seem that they're just innocent people caught in the cross-fire trying to stop the apocalyptic events repeating.

This is reinforced by sections of the trailer which features a remixed, slower version of the song 'Uprising' by Muse. You don't need an expert to tell you what that song is about.

It seems to be Bioware's favourite theme - innocents trying to stop events larger than them - but if they're good at something there's no reason to stop it. The Muse remix is pretty sweet, too.
