7 Mass Effect Species That Need Their Own Games
6. Asari
Arguably the most famous of Mass Effect's alien races, the Asari are an all-female, mostly blue skinned species that live for a thousand years and are highly cultured and well suited for diplomacy. More importantly, they are the most naturally gifted users of biotics (the franchise's science based magic powers).
Yes, despite their general depiction as galactic politicians, and a false perception of their promiscuity due to their high physical attractiveness and comfort with their sexuality, Asari make for great soldiers thanks to their high intelligence, advanced technology, and adept biotic ability, and some of the series' most powerful individuals such as Matriarch Benezia, Samara, and of course Liara T'Soni are Asari.
But its their long lifespan that creates an interesting opportunity for a gaming narrative. Asari mate almost exclusively with other species and are thus faced with the prospect of outliving their partners, and talk a great deal about seeing things in a long view. This would make the Asari interesting viewpoint characters in a game series of such enormous scope, as the plot could jump forward several decades or even centuries at a time and explore how the life of the player character and the galaxy at large have changed in that time. All the while controlling a sassy, energy blasting squid-haired lady who knows how to handle a rifle.
Oh! And they can Vulcan mind-meld too. If that's not an obvious gameplay mechanic for learning new skills and information, I don't know what is.
