7 Most Terrifying Video Games Available On PSN Right Now
1. Outlast
In this beautiful and brutal game you are Miles Upshur, a freelance journalist who decides it’s a fantastic idea to break into a psychiatric hospital on a tenuous lead. In Miles’ defence, it’s supposed to be abandoned. But is it? Of course not.
You are to investigate the hospital, which would fail all health & safety inspections, avoiding the homicidal patients who are out for your blood. But no defending yourself, even if you are under direct attack from a burly man wielding a piece of wood with a nail in it.
You will cry “Thank god, there’s a locker!” randomly, but warning: these lunatics aren’t stupid. If they see you hide, they yank you out to an early death.
Playing via a camera and often reliant on its night vision, you slowly watch your batteries decrease and suffer the fear of them running out. Outlast will surprise you with jump scares, tense atmosphere, and grip you with it’s story. There're no dull moments, no relaxation - this isn't a game to play after a hard day’s work.
Also available on the PSN is the DLC prequel Whistleblower, which sheds figurative light on how Mount Massive went from bad to worse.
Likely the best horror game on the PSN, but careful, horror fans: this one has fangs.
