7 Pieces Of Tech From Video Games That'll Actually Exist Soon

7. Crying Wolf From Metal Gear Solid 4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=117&v=M8YjvHYbZ9w The roster of Metal Gear Solid 4 bosses lacked the eccentricity and B-movie appeal of previous games. There were no fat dudes on roller-skates or a 7-foot giant who commanded a swarm of hornets, but MGS 4's Beauty and the Beast unit was a technologically impressive bunch, with each woman wearing an exo-suit inspired by a different animal. Soon after MGS 4 was released, experimental military research facility DARPA began showing off impressive quadrupedal robots bearing a striking resemblance to the Crying Wolf boss. In a way, DARPA's bots are even more impressive because of the fact that they're automated (although they lack Crying Wolf's scent sensors or railgun). DARPA has released several models of its four-legged robots so far. While earlier iterations like 'Big Dog' looked kind of disturbing (like a couple of people wearing tights, whose bodies above the legs were trapped and bound by a giant machine), the latest model, Spot, is actually pretty cute. Watching the video, I felt a bit bad for Spot when some horrible geek kicks it in the side to show off its stability. Mind you, it's probably that kind of soppy sentimentality on my part that these machines will eventually exploit when they rise up to enslave the human race.
